Oils & Lubricants

Prisco specializes in supplying oils and lubricants only to the Printing Industry. Because our lubricants are specific to that industry, we can blend them precisely to meet the needs of our market. All of our lubricants meet and, in most cases, exceed press manufacturers’ specifications.

Oils

All Prisco oils are formulated specifically for the Printing Industry from the finest Exxon/Mobil base oils and additive packages. Additives are chemicals added to base oils and greases to adapt them for a particular application. Additives include anti-oxidants, corrosion inhibitors, rust inhibitors, anti-foam agents, dispersants, and viscosity index improvers.

HO Series – ISO VISCOSITY GRADE (VG) 32, 46, 68, 100, 150, 220 – These oils are used where metal surfaces slide against each other. All HO Series oils ensure good film and boundary protection. They contain ZDDP, a superior zinc compound anti-wear additive in addition to rust and oxidation inhibitors.

GO Series – ISO VG 66, 100, 150, 220, 320 – These oils are used in situations where the teeth of one gear are in direct contact with the teeth of another gear. These oils help protect in situations of severe metal to metal contact. All Prisco gear oils provide extra film and boundary lubrication. In addition to ZDDP, Prisco gear oils have a sulfur-phosphorus EP (extreme pressure) additive specially designed to protect printing equipment under heavy and shock loads.

Prisco High-Performance Synthetics (HPS) – ISO VG 32, 46, 68, 100, 150, 220 – Synthetic gear lubricants are recommended for use under severe high or low-temperature conditions when lubricating enclosed gears and heavily loaded plain or roller element bearings. They are particularly recommended for applications where high oil temperatures result in short oil life or high maintenance costs. PRISCO HPS Series lubricants are formulated using synthesized hydrocarbon fluid and select additives to enhance oxidation resistance and provide maximum protection against wear, rust, corrosion, and foaming. The phosphorus-free formula makes them ideal for machines containing brass or copper components. These synthesized hydrocarbon fluids have a wide operating latitude even under the most severe temperature extremes and operating conditions. They provide significantly better thermal and oxidation stability, as well as increased protection against the loss of viscosity at high operating temperatures, thus assuring maximum protection. The low coefficient of friction of the PRISCO HPS Series lubricants substantially reduces power consumption and gearbox operating temperatures, further prolonging the usable life of this lubricant.

Prisco Cyberlube™ is a multi-purpose, convenient and easy-to-use lubricating compound for your pressroom. It is a lightweight, penetrating, greaseless aerosol, combustible at 1420F, with a VOC content of 6.33 lbs/gal.

Greases

Greases are solid to semi-solid materials that are formed by adding a thickening agent to a liquid lubricant.

NFO 926™ – Semi-solid paste with a flashpoint of 4000F, no Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs).

PG-123™ – Semi-solid lithium grease with a flashpoint of 4000F and contains no VOCs. This product is good for slow- and high-speed bearing applications and has excellent water repellency.

PG-M2™ – Semi-solid grease with a lithium-based thickener, a flashpoint of 4000F and no VOCs. This product contains Molybdenum Disulfide, is excellent for heavy-duty applications and may be used in high-temperature environments.

Specialty Lubricants

Prisco PL-RCL is a synthetic delivery chain aerosol lubricant specifically developed for the hostile environment of a modern printing press. With frequent use, PL-RCL extends the life of the press delivery chain and reduces downtime due to chain cleaning and maintenance.

Prisco Roller Lube reduces friction and helps prevent overheating, swelling and cracking, by lubricating dry rollers being run without ink. Prisco Roller Lube should also be used to prevent stored rollers from drying out and cracking. Roller Lube has a flashpoint of 3410F and contains no VOCs. This product is also referred to as a “dry-unit compound”.
